Since the kids had to get new passports, which means they had to attend in person at the embassy in London, we made it a family weekend of experiencing the city - the kids have never been!
Obligatory London selfie... |
We had an Airbnb, which had a loft bed in it that the kids immediately claimed as their own...
A nearly tame squirrel! |
It was a long day... |
... and they were absolutely finished at the end! |
On Saturday, we visited the Tower of London where we first followed a Yeoman Warder (Beefeater) tour - he was very funny - and then explored the grounds. The ravens were particularly fascinating, and it was hilarious to watch the Beefeater in charge having to chase after one particular raven, Poppy, who kept attracting crowds of tourists by her antics!
We did not visit the Crown Jewels, because the queue put us off and the kids were coming to the end of their patience. So we decided to have a wander around and ended up at a square with water features to play in, which the kids much enjoyed!
And that was really it - home time on Sunday, but not until after we had seen the Big Ben clock tower in person! D was really quite fed up by that time. Time to go home to our own house and get some rest!
