Screen free Lent was a good idea and we've enjoyed it, might well do it again next year; but with the current Coronavirus situation developing, our Lenten practice has changed (and might extend possibly into Easter and beyond!)...
We are well. And as far as I can tell, none of us are particularly at risk - I'm not fearful for us, but we'll be minimising our social interactions for now. That's in general, but particularly with older people (missing you grandma and grandad!) - not because I fear for my kids but because they could be carriers, and are too little to know how to keep themselves and others safe. I feel it's right to do what we can to protect those in our community who are more vulnerable, inconvenient though it may be for us. "Love Thy Neighbour..." even, and especially, the most vulnerable.
We're not isolating ourselves at home, but will stick to doing things as a family - in our house but also things like going to the beach, walks etc - without interacting closely with others, as far as we can. I am looking at this as a Lenten practice of giving up a freedom I have for the sake of others, a time of slowing life down and consciously being together as a family. To me, Lent is all about letting go of certain distractions to consciously connect with God and those closest to us.
There may well be more blog posts as we go along!
